The question 'how much is auto insurance?' is one that really cannot be answered with a single statement. It is pretty much like saying how long is a piece of string and is a totally subjective question that you cannot really answer without having all of the necessary information. When it comes to working out the costings for car insurance there are so many different factors that will come into play for the insurance company to consider and therefore if you do not know these then you will not be able to work out how much the insurance will cost.
Essentially, the cost of your insurance will come down to your level of risk and if you are considered to be risky by the insurance company then you will find that you insurance rates will go up. Now risk is calculated by many different factors. Lets have a look at a few of them.
First of all, the car that you are driving will be very important. If you are going out to buy a sports car of a super car then the insurance on it will be massive. The reason for this is that you will be more likely to get into an accident if you are driving at higher speeds and also because the cost of repairs for the car will be a lot higher if it is more expensive. Getting a cheap car, however, will allow you to get much cheaper rates.
Another important factor that will come into play will be your age and experience. Often this will also be linked in with your gender as well. For example, if you are a new driver then you will get charged more, and this is especially true if you are male. Young men will account for more accidents on the road than any other group and therefore they need to pay more for their insurance.
If, however, you were a middle aged woman then you insurance will be lower as you will be considered a lower hazard and risk. Another factor will be how often you are going to be using the car that you drive and where you live.
If you live somewhere where there is a lot of traffic and crime and you have to drive through these areas everyday for miles in order to get to work then it will be more likely that you suffer a problem. If you live in the country, however, and do not use your car too often then you will not be charged so much.
Another thing to consider will be the safety features that you get for the car, both inside and out. This will be both things like airbags that will protect you if you are in an accident, and the safety devices that you will have on the outside to protect the car from any unwanted criminal activity.
These are only some of the factors that will determine how much your insurance will cost, but there will be many others as well, such as your job and credit rating.
